On the 18th of November, 2021, the UK Secretary of State appointed Kiwa as an approved body under the Radio Equipment Regulations 2017.  Kiwa has now been appointed as a UK Approved Body (and UK Notified Body for the Northern Ireland market) for Radio Equipment Regulations following our recent grant of accreditation. Kiwa is now able to test and certify products as part of UKCA/UKNI marking requirements for Radio Equipment Regulations”

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking that is used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). Note that we also cover the UKNI (UK Northern Ireland) marking. These markings cover most goods which previously required the CE marking, known as ‘new approach’ goods.

The UKCA/UKNI marking came into effect on 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, you will still be able to use the CE marking until 1 January 2023.

Businesses are encouraged to be ready for full implementation of the new UK regime as soon as possible. To allow businesses time to adjust, CE marked goods in scope of this guidance that meet EU requirements (where these match UK requirements) can continue to be placed on the GB market until 1 January 2023 where EU and UK requirements remain the same. This includes goods which have been assessed by an EU recognized notified body.
